77.075.00 - 77.076.17 WELDING AND CUTTING MACHINES

T-400 TRANSFORMER

T-400 Arc welding machine is a heavy duty AC welding transformer well suited for many shipboard maintenance and repair activities. The very reliable moving shunt output control permits continuous adjustment of welding current even when hand cranking. This high open circuit voltage (OCV) permits easy starting and restarting with electrodes. An optional, built-in voltage reducer is available and is adjustable to reduce standby voltage at the terminals to42, 24 or 12 Volts. The T-400 is supplied as standard with rubber wheels, handle and lifting eyes to facilitate moving to locations remote from the workshop.

ISSA Code:  77.075.00

Transformer.jpg

Applications:
The T-400 arc welding machine can be used for repair and maintinance welding with all mild and low alloy steel, stainless steel and nickel/nickel-iron electrodes specifically intended for use with AC current. If shipboard welding requirements include the use of electrodes requiring direct current, R-500 recitifier should be used instead. The T-400 provides sufficient capacity to weld easily with electrodes up to 6,0mm (1/4") and may also be used for carbon arc gouging.

Features:

  • Continuous current adjustment from 70-400 Amp.
  • Currents setting is clearly indicated on the fornt panel.
  • High open circuit voltage (OCV) provides easy striking and restriking.
  • Excellent arc stability for easy welding, even for inexperienced welders.
  • Reliable heavy duty design and construction.
  • Rubber wheels, lifting eyes and tow handle are standard.
  • Optional voltage reducer available.
  • Buit-in resettable overload protection.
  • Corrosion protection is provided by dippingand totally enclosed control cicuit compartment.

Specifications:

  • Primary/Input (50/60 Hz. Single phase)

R-500 RECTIFIER

R-500 arc welding machine is a heavy duty three-phase recitifier idealy suited for all shipboard repair and maintenance activities. The R-500 provides an extremely smooth, ripple-free direct current that can easily controlled to accomplish the most difficult welding tasks. The arc starting current can be adjusted to eliminate striking and restriking problems as well as electrode sticking. The line voltage compensation eliminates variations in output due to primary power surges. The R-500 is rated 500 amps at 35% duty cycle and 400 amps at 60% duty cycle. Thermostats and protective circuits provide superior protection to all components during operation. The complete transformer base assembly is protected by dipping in a special sealing compound. An optional remote control is available or machines specially ordered with this feature.

Applications:
The R-500 arc welder is especially well suited for use with low hydrogen and stainless steel electrodes and also for all "out of position welding". Electrodes up to 6,0mm (1/4") diameter can be used to produce high quality welds efficiently. The R-500 provides a very stable arc at low current levels for welding with small electrodes. The R-500 can also be used for arc gouging and TIG welding with scratch starting or the optional high frequency unit.

Features:

  • Full wave, three-phase silicon recitifier.
  • Continuous current adjustment from 60-500 Amp. at the  panel or with optional remote control.
  • Arc force control adjusts short curcuit current.
  • Ideal arc characteristics for all position welding with all types of electrodes.
  • Line voltage compensation.
  • Protective cicuits guard against damage resulting from overload of surges.
  • Corrosion protection is providing by dipping and totally enclosed circuit compartment.

Specifications:

  • Primary/Input (50/60 Hz. Three phase)

IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED (required by many marine regulations) that the primary cable be connected to a fused safety switch using fuses rated as listed above to permit complete electrical shutdown of the arc welder when not in use for maintenance, and to protect other circuits in case of overload in the arc welder branch circuit. A fused safety switch cannot be used to guarentee protection of the arc welder in case of a short cicuited secondary. Duty cycle is defined as the cumulative percentage of any ten (10) minute period during which the arc welder can be operated at the specified current without overheating.
